This Study and Travel package is centered on the town of Baños de Agua Santa, a small and lively town that sits in the lowest foothills of the Andes on the Amazon side. It is known as the adventure capital of Ecuador, a center for jungle tours and adventure sports.
You will travel to Baños from Quito by bus on Monday morning (about 4 hours) where your teacher will meet you and escort you to your accommodation. In the afternoon you will have classes, and in the evening you will take a ride by jeep to view the nearby Tungurahua volcano, which is often smoking and active.
During the rest of the week there are a variety of activities and sports on offer - horseback riding, white-water rafting, bicycling, bungee jumping, and a visit to nearby Puyo and an indigenous community in the jungle.
The program ends on Friday after classes in the mornings. In the afternoon you can visit a local spa and return to Quito that evening, or stay until Saturday to enjoy extra activities or local tours.

"I love adventure stuff but not travelling around too much, so this program was ideal for me. The rivers here are first class! My teacher was a great guide as well and turned me on to all the interesting stuff that was going on. "
The town of Baños de Agua Santa sits directly below Tungurahua volcano nestled in an enclosed valley. In recent years it has been billowing smoke and ash and spitting out lava, with the threat several times that the town would have to be evacuated. Its location gives it a mild sub-tropical climate and it is surrounded by spectacular forests. There are many restaurants and cafés where Spanish students can relax when they are not taking Spanish classes or enjoying the activities on offer.
