Intensive Spanish Programs in Quito
The best way to study any language is to immerse oneself as fully as possible in the new language. To facilitate this process, Yanapuma has organized two optional programs for our Spanish students that combine conventional study in the classroom with the chance to get out and practice every day. The Quito Volunteer Package is a month-long package that combines four hours per day of Spanish instruction with volunteering each day in a Quito-based volunteer project. Our Quito Cultural Package, designed for those with limited time in Quito, is a combination of 20 hours of regular classes per week with 4 visits per week to places of interest such as museums and other cultural and tourist sites.
Quito Volunteer Package
Our Spanish school and Foundation are dedicated to community service and improving the lives of Ecuadorians while offering our students the chance to learn and experience Ecuadorian cultures. The Quito Volunteer Package was created for Spanish students looking for an intensive Spanish language and cultural learning experience including the opportunity to help others. These packages include 20 hours per week, 4 hours per day of classroom Spanish instruction each afternoon and four or five mornings of volunteering.
The minimum time for this program is 4 weeks, and you must have a basic knowledge of Spanish to volunteer. If you have little or no prior knowledge of Spanish, we require a minimum of two weeks of classes at our school before beginning the volunteer program. We arrange the volunteer program and a member of our staff will accompany the student on the first day of the volunteer project.
There is a small extra cost for this program, which is used to pay any volunteer fees charged by our partner organizations. Any funds not used for such fees are placed in a fund to be used for donations to the organizations in Quito where our students volunteer. Of course, you are welcome (and encouraged) to continue volunteering at these projects once you have completed the 4-week program without any further charge.
Projects vary, ranging from working in a local children’s hospital, working in daycare centers or with street children, in schools, or with a recycling project. For more details on these options, or if you have other questions, please contact us.
Quito Cultural Package
Quito was declared a World Heritage site in 1978. Its historic center is recognized as the best-preserved historic center in Latin America with many fine buildings, museums and cultural centers. There are plenty of other sites of interest in and around Quito, from museums to parks to historical sites. We have created the Quito Cultural Package to offer our Spanish students the chance to explore this rich, vibrant and diverse city.
The packet combines 4 hours per day, 20 hours per week of Spanish classes with visits to some of Quito’s cultural treasures accompanied by a teacher. Four excursions per week are included, offering plenty of opportunity for exploring the city and practicing your Spanish at the same time. This is a 2-week program, and of course additional weeks of Spanish classes or other programs can be added before or after these 2 weeks.
