Excursions and Travel

See Quito and Ecuador with Yanapuma

Weekday Excursions:

Yanapuma organizes weekly trips to areas in or around Quito to explore the richness of the local area while offering additional opportunities to learn Spanish. These trips can include a walking tour of the historic city center, a trip up to 4000 meters on Quito’s teleférico, the Quito botanical garden and Parque Carolina, and others.

Our Quito Cultural Package offers 4 excursions per week to various places of interest in or around Quito.  Students not participating in this program are welcome to join these excursions for a fee (if there are other students enrolled in the program).

Some examples of our regular excursions are:

  • Museo del Banco Central
  • Santa Clara Indigenous Market
  • Inti Nan museum on the equator
  • Museo de la Ciudad
  • Museo Guayasamin
  • Museo Mitad del Mundo on the equator
  • Old Town tour
  • Historic churches of Quito
  • "Teleferico" cablecar above Quito
  • Panecillo monument

Weekend Excursions:

Every weekend, we offer the option of a one or two night trip to a number of different places in Ecuador. These trips can include hikes, traditional celebrations, or trips to explore different regions and communities in the country. We try to offer a wide variety of destinations at very reasonable prices, and we do not repeat our trips too often so our students have the opportunity to explore as many different places as possible. Past trips have included various hot springs, a weekend at the annual Inti Raymi festival in Cañar, hiking in the Intag area, rafting in Tena, the Otavlalo market and the surrounding area, community-led hikes through the cloud forest, and others.

Other Travel Options:

We also provide booking services for travel across Ecuador, including trips to the Galapagos, climbing the Cotopaxi volcano, exploring the Amazon, and other destinations. Travel options are also available to visit some of the communities our Foundation works with. We are happy to help our students with any other questions they may have about travel in Ecuador.
